Theres magic in waking up and looking out of the window to a world that, overnight, has undergone metamorphosis. I go to bed under a cold and misty and rainy weather, and wake up surrounded by the most wonderful white landscape. The rooftops, cars and bicycles on the street, the parks and gardens, the branches of the trees reaching for the sky, all of them are covered by a fluffy layer of snow. You learn to walk in a different way, one that disturbs as little as possible the immaculate snowscape, but you cant avoid the trails of footprints. The lakes and canals shine in the sun, the water frozen mid-motion. Everywhere, snowmen pop up from the snow, kids throw snowballs at each other or slide in their sleds.
