Theres no doubt which team Dan and Ryan Pardovich are rooting for to win the national college football championship. Ryan has an OREGON tattoo on his forearm. And one of the most recognizable trucks in there fleet is themed green and gold in honor of their favorite team – the University of Oregon Ducks. The “Duck Truck” started life as a 1989 Kenworth T800, hauling logs for the family business – PER, Inc., located in Elmira, Oregon, a short drive west of Eugene at the foothills of the Coastal Mountain Range. Like a football team in transition, you might say the truck had a “rebuilding season” following an accident. In the shop, the brothers added a new cab and a custom fiberglass hood from Jones Performance. The truck also has a 500 horsepower Caterpillar 3406C, motor 18-speed transmission, two-speed Eaton rears and matching Whit-Log trailer. Unlike fleets that like their trucks to match, PER prefers each of their 22 trucks to have a personality of its own. “We like to have a custom truck,” Dan says, “Theres definitely a cool factor.” The choice was made to paint the truck green, and being Oregon fans, they asked their sign guy if he could duplicate the carbon fiber style wings used on the Ducks football jerseys. Zero was the perfect number for the truck and it was made to resemble the iconic Oregon “O” logo. Neon yellow pinstriping completes the scheme. “You can definitely tell its themed after the Ducks, and it gets a lot of thumbs up,” Dan says. The brothers were guests in the Pape Kenworth suite at Autzen Stadium for the Ducks game against Arizona – Ironically, Oregons only loss of the 2014-15 season. But Ryan and Dan are log truckers, and arent fazed in the least by one flat tire. Monday will be just another work day for the Duck truck. But it might be a shorter day than usual – theres no way theyre going to miss the big game against Ohio State. The Duck truck might be number zero, but theyre sure their team will be number one. “Were going to win,” Dan states, “We dont have any doubts.”
