Theres nothing special about me, just an ordinary final year - TopicsExpress

Theres nothing special about me, just an ordinary final year secondary school student. I feel like the comments made by Scholarism 學民(namely Joshua) is hijacking the will and opinion of many protesters in the occupy central/umbrella movement, this is similar to the way that Chow Yung (周融) claimed that the silent majority is against the purpose of the occupy central movement. From the development of occupy central, it is clear that the movement has evolved into a mass protest where people from all walks of life come and express their dissatisfaction towards the government, the framework set by the National Peoples Congress and basically, their hope for true democracy in Hong Kong. That however, does not mean that every single person participating agrees with the actions and goals of certain individual who are seemingly leading the movement. For instance, Scholarism said that by failing to address their requests, the HK government has lost its chance for negotiation. I dont agree with that. In fact, I think that in this critical situation, negotiation and proper communication is more crucial than ever. Since I also participated in the movement, it means that Scholarism does not directly represent me. Im also pretty sure that some other people participating in the movement would agree with me. Thats why I am sick and tired of people from Scholarism and the founders of occupy central from expressing their views like it represents everyone in the movement. Just because you somehow initiated the event, and the event turned into something else, can give you the right to speak in behalf of every students. Escalating the movement is also a very, very dangerous idea that can lead to tactical mistake. Think about it, the majority of the HK people did not come out; perhaps they dislike the idea of civil disobedience, perhaps they think civil disobedience isnt the best way to express your views, perhaps they think that it is not rational, who knows? But as long as you sit there peacefully like any regular protest assembly, then you will have the majoritys sympathy. Although they might not fully agree with you, they will not go to the extent to condemn you. However, if you escalate your actions, then you might lose even more support from the HK people, and this will give the HK government a legit excuse to persecute the movement. Dont make this mistake guys, peace and order are the key elements of this movement. Dont ruin it, please. (forgive any grammatical mistakes, Im just a secondary school kid afterall :P)
