Theres some speculation on what Ben Kingsley was filming for the super secret project at Marvel. Most believe that it is an easter egg revealing the real Mandarin. For those that didnt follow the comics, the Mandarin was one of Ironmans greatest enemies. He got his power from ten alien rings that he wore. This is why they made a point of showing his rings in Ironman 3. As a fan of the comics I was looking forward to seeing the Mandarin kick some ass. Since the extremis plotline occurred fairly recently I dont know how closely the movie got that. So naturally I was a bit disappointed with the Mandarin twist in the movie. After thinking about this and the super secret project mentioned above, here is what I would like to see in the easter egg instead of the current speculation; Trevor is naturally tried and sentenced to prison for his role in the Mandarin/Killian Aldrich plot to kill the president. Due to the fact that he was obviously not the mastermind behind the project, he is given a pretty lenient sentence. While in prison he receives a package containing his 10 rings. Thus revealing that he truly was the Mandarin, his portrayal as Trevor was the acting. Without his rings the Mandarin would have been no match for Tony Stark with a handgun. Knowing that he was in the room, the Mandarin put on an act, instead of the usual bluff and bluster that super villains usually portray. This throws the authorities off and sets up his eventual escape. Now armed with his rings he can make Tony Stark pay for forcing him to hide behind the fictional Trevor. Just a thought.
