Theres that question from a student that tells you 2 things; either the students not been paying attention to the lecture or she craves something beyond the answer to her enquiry. Same goes for certain posts on Facebook. You read that suposedly deep post that all your friends Like and Comment on only to discover that its some mundane spiel of the krinkum krankum specie masquerading as some deep thought from some deep soul. When you even realise that the person only want to pass as some smart mind with a desire to have his name written on the great book of interlectuals(whatever that is) you smirk, sigh and once again regret why Mr. Zuckerberge has not considered putting up the Thumbs Down button! Such irritating pastiches of intellectualism usually practice their arseholery on religion, politics and philosophy, but especially on the Christian and Muslim religions. They take something that is ordinarily simple and so unavailable for confusing and winding discuss, twist and garnish it with verbosity, and being masters of poetry and prose deploy these frigates generously and behold, a rather simple issue -of just accepting and living out this Hobbesian life one day at a time, for instance- becomes rocket science! Then with the satisfaction of a con artist docking behind the scene to gauge how the gullible will fall for his mischief they fall back on their sofas and relish the harvest of Likes and Comments thinking themselves some deep philosophers or serious contributors to important debates. If only people will invest as much time as they waste on reading such inane updates on reading real and serious books and works and meditating appropriately on them they will see these charlatans for their shameless nudity and emptiness. For instance, one does not need to be an authority on the Christian faith as dictated by the Bible to realise that 99% of smart questions and deep posts one reads on Facebook as regards the inadequacy of that faith to attend to most of lifes tough questions have been asked and appropriately answered (by Bible standards) by Awake! a publicaton of Jehovahs Witnesses. And to think that Awake! is free and can be got from the ubiquitous Witnesses roaming the streets! Why then are folks still garnering endless Likes and Comments on Facebook when they write mumu disquisitions asking these same questions and even presenting them as if the Christian faith or the Bible do not and cannot provide the answers? People should study real texts -if they trully seek to know. Then theres something to be said for reading great books -like the Bible and the Koran before commenting and passing sweeping remarks on Christianity and Islam. If all you know on Tibetan Budhaism for instance, is what you read from Lopsang Rampa, please its a losers errand to start sounding deeper than the Dalai Lama on Budhaism. Infact, to put it mildly, you ridicule serious discuss. And sorry if this is how you got the news, YOU ARE NO INTERLLECTUAL!
