There’s enough wealth in this world to go around. It’s not unfortunate or sad or just bad luck that people live in poverty. It’s unjustifiable and morally repugnant. This is the largest wrong in our society, that we are being brainwashed into thinking it is the role of the individual to lift themselves out of poverty, and once there are not expected to contribute to a greater good, except through continued consumption of capital goods to keep an economy in motion. In my own opinion it is societys role to ensure and protect the fundamental rights to universal health, education, freedom of speech and the practice of any faith without interference. Anything less is simply selfish or immoral. Take your pick.
