These 2 were my very best friends when I was 17 years old. I had began preaching a little bit, and he would play the guitar and harmonize. She would play the piano and roll her eyes when our teenage folly leaked through our too-serious-for-teenager demeanors. But we were serious! And together we frequented the radio station, the nursing home, and local youth rallies so that we could tell someone about Jesus! We were inseperable! He was 2 years younger than me, and probably a whole lot smarter. She was almost 4 years younger than me, but that didnt keep me from asking her advice about how to impress the girls that I hope were impressed with me. We spent a lot of late night hours hashing out the trials and tribulations of youth as well as collectively celebrating things like drivers licenses, first dates, and birthdays. We looked forward to things like youth camps and revivals- not parties or sleep-overs. We really were not allowed to do such wild things, and never really wanted to. We were very content to follow the examples of righteousness that God had strategically placed in each of our lives! Those were some wonderful days- days that I cherish and often long for! Life seemed much simpler when my worries were limited to scraping together enough gas money to drive 15 miles to meet the youth groups from neighboring churches at places like CCs Pizza or McDonalds! So nights like tonight are a special treat! They dont come often anymore, but now and then, I do get to attend a church service with my 2 sidekicks! I love yall and even though we may usually be miles apart, we are still the A-Team!!
