These Cryptoheros septemfasciatus parents are making sure their fry stay together. These show how their pink color becomes more intense during breeding. You can also clearly see the seven bars that give these fish their name. ¶ All Cryptoheros species are small--5 inch males, 3 inch females (more or less). They all do okay with other moderately aggressive fish of the same size, but they are often extremely aggressive with other members of the same species. They all make very good parents. And they all appreciate rockwork to stake out their territory. They often make their nests in caves.
