These are days of conflicting emotions. On one hand Dads battles - TopicsExpress

These are days of conflicting emotions. On one hand Dads battles are over and he has moved on to a place of peace. On the other hand I say good bye to the man who built the foundation for everything I would ever accomplish. My Dad taught me how to bait a hook and how to track a buck. He taught me how to build a fence and how to rebuild a carburetor. His lessons were always clear. He was quick to praise when praise had been earned but he equally quick with correction when correction was necessary. Either way we always knew that we got what we earned and that we were loved. Dad was a man who had to work far too hard for far too little but he did so with pride. It was not an easy life. I was fortunate to grow up working by his side and learning every step of the way. It was a simple way of life. You get out of bed, you work like hell, you bleed, you sweat and you always believe that tomorrow will be a better day. Most of the time tomorrow was not. That didnt matter though because you get out of bed, you work like hell, you bleed, you sweat and you always believe that the Next tomorrow will be a better day. The greatest gift my Dad ever gave me was his unreasonable optimism in the face of monumental adversity. Every parent tells their child that If you work hard you can achieve anything you choose. The amazing thing about my Dad is that he actually made me believe it. For that I will always be grateful and will try to instill that same belief in my children.
