These are just my thoughts, yours may differ. It wouldn’t - TopicsExpress

These are just my thoughts, yours may differ. It wouldn’t bother me if Anthony stood as UKIP or any other party. BUT, looking at some of the comments from members of this group, which they are perfectly entitled to voice, and scaling them up to the wider public in his ward, it may well be difficult for Anthony to be elected. It’s very difficult to change people’s preconceptions and most people vote for their preferred national party, even at town level. We on this group are only a small sample of residents, and we know what’s been going on and accept that a change must be made. The majority of Seaford voters however, have no idea of recent events, and seeing UKIP on the ballot paper may well put people off. Also if we, as a group, show an overwhelming support for one party that may make us look as if we are supporting one party over the others, and yet we all (I think) want politics to be taken out of our town council. As a sign that the existing parties are listening to us and want to remove the party influence at town level, maybe each party could donate 20% of their election budget to Anthony and therefore allow him to stand as an Independent? I would hope that UKIP will understand that getting elected is the absolute top priority and not put too much pressure on Anthony.
