These are not my thoughts in the article below .....But its sobering to see a different perspective. I know when I was young I wasnt listening to 50 year old music, the music of my grandparents. But thats what we are expecting kids to do today. Im just glad I have been a Beatles fan from the age of 6. Its hard to grasp what its like to grow up in this watered down, unimaginative safe musical universe (and Im not talking about the abundance of music overall, Im talking about the main stream). Being a musician myself, I see why pop music just isnt important to the younger generation the way it was for boomers like myself. These days when I play a local bar/restaurant with my band, they stick us in the back room while upfront, the young and more festive crowd watches sports on giant TV screens while twirking to the digital jukebox. That live connection to breathing humans playing musical instruments is done, its over....Unless you have $400 to go to a stadium to watch Miley Cyrus....or Jay Z and Beyonce...or Kanye West there is no local music scene, at least where I live....The bar has been lowered, mediocrity is what we got, and plenty of it...........and thats not just age talking. —Al Gross news.yahoo/no-one-needs-know-paul-mccartney-130000765.html
