These are pictures from Lawaan, Eastern Samar, where I was blessed to be able to live and teach for a year. My foster family and students tell me not to worry and our prayers are enough (their strength and hope continue to inspire) but we also know there is no source of food and we see these pictures where many of their homes are destroyed. They have to go to the less affected Western and Northern Samar to buy food but stocks are dwindling there too. We know rebuilding and restoration will be needed but for now, food and water are their urgent needs. If you have any more to spare, we would like to request for your kind assistance in extending help to them. Ate Pipay (Ms. Fe B.
