These are pictures of my poor old Bill Sargent hand made pipe. 30 years ago this was my favorite smoker, then I broke the tenon. I set it aside for over 25 years and when I got it out I found Id lost the original stem. A couple of weeks ago I sent it to Ed James and asked Him to mend it for me. Ed told me He could make a stem from a bar of German Ebonite for me and my only instructions was to not make it too long and use His instincts to make the stem look right for the pipe. I also asked him to add three dots using small rod exactly like Bill Sargent did when he made the pipe and this is what he did with it. If I didnt know better Id think it was the original stem. Eds talent amazes me every time I send Him something. He is a true artist.
