These are some of the many photos by boyfriend took at the memorial service for the 4th annual The National Animal Rights Day (US). Dozens of participants held, mourned, and honored the deceased bodies of animals who represent the billions of non-human animals slaughtered, abused, tested on, hunted, bred for profit, and otherwise exploited by humanity every year. By honoring these animals in a public place, we hope to encourage viewers to make the connection between the choices they make (for food, clothing, companion animals, entertainment, cosmetics, etc.) and the victims who suffer because of those choices. While partaking is of course a very emotional experience, I do believe we all left feeling reinspired, reconnected, and ready to work even harder on behalf of those who can only cry out in a language most humans choose to ignore. My deepest gratitude to all who took part and especially to those who work extremely hard all year to put this event together. ♥
