I am a block 2 student who has been active in GASN from my first semester here. In Blocks 1 and 2, I have been one of the student representatives for the hybrid cohort. Enthusiasm: • Volunteering for different projects both in class and in GASN • A smile, a wave and a hi in the quad - if you look at me when we pass by, share one with me • Energy and determination to provide educational and volunteer opportunities Commitment: • Attending meetings and assisting with set up and clean up • Volunteering to help with t-shirt and used uniform sales and • Participating in community service opportunities Leadership: • Providing information on volunteer opportunities, which are published on the GASN Facebook page • Leading regular study groups for my classmates • Presenting community service projects, (these had to be tabled this semester, but are still in the docket for next semester), and • Assuming the facilitator position for the mentor program, which has over 70 students involved this semester If you want someone who will give you enthusiastic and committed leadership, vote for me! And if elected, I will continue to work hard to provide opportunities for learning, volunteering and succeeding for all students in the nursing program. Eric Sartori Vice President Nominee My name is Eric Sartori and I am running for Vice President of your GASN for the Spring 2014 semester. I am currently serving as secretary of the GASN and also SNAAZ (Student Nurses Association of Arizona). I find serving these organizations to be challenging and fulfilling. I enjoy working to bring usefull resources and individuals to your experience as a nursing student. Last semester Jonah Beltran and I collaborated to host the second meeting and we brought you Jacinta Broome (Hiring manager at John C. Linclon) and Kathy Lane (Volunteer Coordinator at Banner Thunderbird). I know that many people found this meeting valuable because so many of you stayed after to meet the speakers, ask questions and pick up volunteer applications. Next semester the three other GASN officers are planning on moving on to other opportunities so I am hoping that you will vote for me because Id like to help maintain a sense of continuity in the organization and also provide support to the incoming president. Good Luck to all of the nominees in this election and good luck to all of us nursing students. Keep studying hard and dont forget, The best thing about nursing school is that IT ENDS... and when it does, you will have a very bright and fulfilling future ahead of you. Lauren Oney – Secretary LAUREN ONEY is running for Spring 2014 GASN Secretary. She is in her second block of nursing school, and is in the Hybrid/ evening cohort. She has been apart of GASN since starting nursing school and has loved and attended every single meeting since she started. She has been her class GASN representative for the past 2 semesters. Lauren is very involved with nursing and the community. When not occupied with school, She is involved in volunteer services through the county hospital: MIHS, is involved in all community services through GASN , and is a prospective candidate for the Valor program through the VA hospital. Lauren knew her calling was for nursing, due to the community involvement nursing has and also nursing being such a community asset. She has previously been heavily involved with several of her student councils while in school; previously class rep her 6th & 7th grade year, treasurer her 8th grade year, and secretary sophomore to senior year in high school. While attending ASU, she was elected president of her dorm hall and kept her dorm hall connected with campus life. Lauren says, I am so excited for the upcoming year and being a part of the executive board of GASN. I love being a part of this great organization that does amazing things for its community and their health!!! Catherine Sagastume – Secretary Hello my fellow classmates! My name is Catherine Sagastume and I am currently in the block 3 CEP cohort. After being a mentor last semester and this current semester for several nursing students, I realized that I wanted take part in something more. GASN offers many contributions from informative speakers to charity donations. Because of this, I want to be involved and wish to be elected as the GASN secretary. One of the imperative qualifications for a secretary is to have organizational skills. I keep myself organized inside and outside of the classroom. For instance, I make my own charts and always have a to-do list for the week to stay ahead. Outside of the classroom, I performed data entry, prioritized calls and followed up with different hospital departments as a hospital operator and security dispatcher. I would love to be part of a team that brings you amazing opportunities. I wholeheartedly believe that my experiences and skills would be a valuable asset to the club and hope you will consider voting for me. Dawn Saxman – Treasurer Block 2 Weekend Cohort Responsibility, Belief, Woo, Developer and Positivity are my top five character traits. To go with those honesty and integrity guide the choices I make. I currently serve as GASN class representative and would like to serve as an officer in the role of Treasurer next semester. I have over 25 years of experience working in banking and with municipal budgets, my current position is a Budget and Finance Administrator. Thank you, Dawn
