These are the first and only known pictures taken of my wife #Katie, before we even knew each other existed, or had formally met. She is pictured here in the #Southern #Caribbean #Island of #Trinidad at a #jungle #hunting #camp #deep in the #Cats #Hill #Forest. All kinds of #exotic, #wild and #strange- lives deep in the rain forest here. Of course I was a much different guy back then, and this is the sort of stuff I had to study as a graduate student in Agriculture at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. In the first picture, we are having breakfast in the pouring rain, sheltering under a tarp, and mixing copious amounts of rum with our coffee. Others are sipping it neat. The mosquitoes can only suck your blood once and then they fall off and on to the ground, in some sort of intoxicated bliss. I the second photo, she is standing in the shelter of the jungle camp, where the fire keeps away mosquitoes and the pouring rain is not soaking you directly. The makeshift kitchen I set up, is the scene of a drumming session, fashioned with old buckets for seats and instruments. The tune, timing and rhythm is somewhat unclear to the sober inhabitants (gentleman in white cap) and he is sort of wondering what mess he got himself into on this night in the camp. Katie is keeping her distance, as she too is not sure what is happening around her so she and her friend Laura and Sarah are holding down the fort until the morning. #tbt
