These are things that keep me up at night! Shock and horror! New book I got and caption says The M3 Stuart tank was too light for the European theatre but really came into its own in the Pacific Island terrain. There is NOTHING correct in this statement. The tank is a M2. Not M3. Americans NEVER called tanks Stuarts, Lees, Shermans, etc. The British did. It didnt become popular here until post war. The light tanks were not effective in the PTO either. They were being replaced by M4A2 tanks beginning at Tarawa and phased out entirely by Iwo. They only survived through 1944 as flame tank conversions, which werent all that successful either. I cant be everywhere at once, I guess...lucky the new book was on sale...
