These beautiful wall cabinets were delivered and installed by John Parkinson Woodworking yesterday - Beech wall Cabinet - The handles to the door, the two drawers and the edging to the drawer pockets are from fumed oak. This is a process where oak is exposed to very strong ammonia fumes in a confined space for several hours. The oaks tannin reacts with the ammonia and changes colour. Natures Bounty wall cabinet in cherry and spalted birch - Named Natures Bounty because the door panel of spalted birch came out of the blue from firewood logs. The spalting is caused by fungi attacking the wood which creates the amazing grain patterns - so long as the wood is dried before the fungal decomposition becomes too well established the timber remains useable.
