These days the books we buy are often, if not exclusively, ebooks, - TopicsExpress

These days the books we buy are often, if not exclusively, ebooks, and not the actual paper and ink, hand-tangible books we all grew up with. I remember as a kid spending my entire week-ends in the library. Our library happened to be quite close in distance so I was able to frequent it almost as often as I wanted to. For me, a week-end spent inside the library was a vacation, total delight time, just pure happiness at having all the time I wanted or needed to fill myself full with book learnin. The days of using the catalogue system are so long gone now that there are some people who havent even have the opportunity for the experience of an old-fashioned library. I loved leafing through the long wooden drawers filled with the small white index cards that held vast reams of information right there at my fingertips. Oh the wonder of it back then! The mind boggled a bit. Walking up and down the cool aisles with the occasional round reading stool being strategically placed, I would ponder and gander until I came upon a title that lit my wick of interest. Often it was the supernatural/religious/spiritual aisles where I spent the greatest amount of time with my head crease-deep in tales of dharma, karma, dhammapada, Ramana, the Rapture, and Bridey Murphy. I couldnt get enough of it, the books about life after death, Augustines confessions, Ray Bradbury and his wicked somethings coming, all and anything that punctured the fantastic life-dream I was delving into and living in and driving down to the ground in a 12 year old girls honest and in-depth self and other, inquiry. That being said, my idea is to share that I prefer the paper and ink books, the books I can feel and tote around and get all goofy over from cover to sleek and lovely cover. I love books, lots of books, all kinds of books. I have preferences for types of books I own and that I read. My favorites are art books and cooking books. But I surely do enjoy every type and manner of books about everything, anything. At Christmas time I like to give books as gifts to those I love. Real books. Touchable, smell-able, wonderfully gorgeous, spined, divine paper books.
