These items are so normal to have around your house.. it is difficult to believe a pet would come to harm from them, but having retired from the Pesticide Section as an Inspector I can not remember the number of times I was called into a possible pesticide poisoning of a pet and it turned out to be antifreeze. It is sweet tasting and no real odor. Pets drink it thinking it is water. It is ethylene glycol poisoning. Crystals form in the kidneys and they shut down, if it is a chronic poisoning where a pet gets access to it repeatedly then it also affects the heart and brain as the crystals get into the blood system. There are three types of antifreeze, the newest is an all natural product but the older two are toxic.. I forget which one also causes blindness. Please keep these products out of your pets reach/contact.
