These men went to the house of God to pray before the Lord and to ask the priests who were in the house and the prophets saying; should I weep in the fifth month and fast as I have done for so many years? Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying; Say to all the people of the land and to the priests: When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seven months during those seventy years, DID YOU REALLY FAST FOR ME-FOR ME? When you eat and drink,DO YOU NOT EAT AND DRINK FOR YOURSELVES? Should you not have obeyed the words which the Lord proclaimed through the former prophets when Jerusalem and the cities were were inhabited and prosperous and the South and low land were inhabited? Thus says the Lord of hosts: Execute true justice, show mercy and compassion everyone to his brother. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the alien or the poor, let none of you plan evil in his heart against his brother. But they refused to heed, shrugged their shoulders and stopped their ears so that they could not hear. Yes, they made their hearts like flint, refusing to hear the law (instruction) and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His spirit through the former prophets. Thus great wrath came from the Lord of hosts. Therefore it happened, that just as He proclaimed and they would not hear, so they called out and I would not listen, says the Lord of hosts. But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they had not known. Thus the land became desolate after them, so that no one passed through or returned, for they made the pleasant land desolate. COMMENTARY: The truth of God is revealed to those who hunger and thirst for the truth of God. The truth is unveiled for it is hidden as if by a blanket from your sight. In order to come to sight of the unseen things by which all things seen are made one must blind himself to the knowledge of the world. Now it is written in the scripture, ALL THINGS ARE PERMISSIBLE BUT NOT ALL THINGS ARE BENEFICIAL. There are many who have an appearance of godliness but are of little profit in the battle of the spirit against the flesh for the spirit battles against the flesh. Now there are many who have customs and rituals which appear to be of benefit for when a man sings or is kind to another, he marvels at himself and others marvel at him and he feels good and thinks to himself, I am not a sinner for he thinks to himself this is of God but men do not know what sin is nor what the word means nor how a man comes to be a slave for sin. Sin is the state of mind in which a man lives by the sight of his eyes and the intense desires of his nature. And it is the nature of all men and therefore common to all men to feel significant and secure. So he dreams up ways to please God and measures both himself and others by how they appear. These people measure themselves by themselves and judge others according to themselves. The scripture speaks of these men very clearly, They twist the scripture to their own destruction. I heard a pastor one day who lobbied against a Muslim school for children, I do it knowing that God will be pleased. Now it is certainly permissible for him to do it under his first amendment rights but what has this to do with coming to the mercy of God that a righteous mind might be formed in him. The scripture informs those who have called upon the ways of God to save him, if your enemy is thirsty, give him to drink. If he is hungry feed him. It will be like pouring hot coals upon his head. It is the nature of a man who seeks the honor of men and have a measure of influence over his fellow man to command him, do this, dont do that and do not touch this and you will be like me. But this man has nothing of the things of God for he has not been shown the mercy of God for he has endured nothing in the the time God can be found. It is written in the scripture, YOU MUST ENDURE MANY THINGS. It is not within the nature of man to put others before himself without expecting something in return. The scripture informs you to show mercy, execute justice and show compassion to others who call upon the ways of God. This is what it means to be a brother. In order to show mercy and seek the truth and to be compassionate to another one must have direct knowledge of these things from the Holy Spirit of God. Man is not born nor created this way. He must learn it. It is only when the spirit comes that a man no longer sins and no longer requires the teaching of another man. Even Jesus informed His students, It is to your advantage that I leave you that the spirit of truth may be given to you. The scripture informs you to control yourself which is to say the nature of man to constantly express how he feels and what he needs. He especially needs to express his fear of loss of the things of the world whether that be wealth, family, children, possessions, a spouse or the honor of friends. Now it is Jesus Himself who informs you that unless a man give up these things in the time of Gods calling, HE CANNOT BE MY DISCIPLE. He informed His students in coming to the truth of God quickly, for the word of God runs swiftly in accomplishing its work, You have the power to lay down your life and the power to pick it up again. It is the nature of man to rush to evil which is to say those things and ways which profit him nothing in the things of God. God is a jealous God. He is not a jealous or angry as a man is jealous and angry when he does not get what he wants in the way he wants it. God, for lack of a better word, is love and without the revelation of the spirit, a man will never know how to love for the the revelation of the spirit of God is what leads a man to give up his life for his friend. Now those who would take a bullet for you we refer to as heroes but they are not heroes by faith. We refer to this as bravery in the cause of men. The love revealed by God forgives its enemies and covers a multitude of sins. The scripture informs you to put away your sword and take up the sword of God which separates you from the love of anything in the world that you may come to know the love of God that you may THEN seek test and approve the will of God that you be conformed to the image of His son as Jesus, the former prophets and apostles. You are informed, there will be wars and rumors of wars but let not your heart be troubled for these things must be for they are done in the nature of men which is to protect those things which he has developed confidence in to save him from death.
