These no-knock raids should be the outrage of the year. In a free country, armed thugs dont sneak up to houses in the middle of the night, kick in doors without warning, and toss grenades into rooms where toddlers are sleeping. Maybe they really believe that catching people with naughty plants or pills is worth killing a child every now and then. Or maybe theyre childish bullies who think theyre still playing army. Or maybe theyre just following orders, and would cheerfully herd people into ovens if the politicians told them to. Im not a psychologist; I dont understand how human beings can be persuaded to attack and terrorize their neighbors and believe that theyre serving the community. But I know its wrong. Law enforcement departments across the country are in the process of turning into terrorist organizations. They are becoming an army. Not the kind of army that protects people from foreign invaders, but the kind that oppresses innocent people and protects a corrupt, tyrannical government.
