These past 24 hours have shown me nothing less than, and nothing more valuable than what truly inspiring & amazing people I am so blessed and honored to share this time on earth with. First & foremost to Rick who is, and always has been my rock, my sounding board and my shoulder to cry on and always supports me in my lifes work even when that means sending me away from the hospital after 3 hours of tests, where we had to rush to, at 4:45am this morning because he was suffering from what they said was probably a mini heart-attack. (He is home and resting right now and is doing incredibly well. =) Luckily he has some of the healthiest genes in the world from his dad. But its a blessing in disguise because he realizes he cant take his health or life for granted.) And the reason he sent me away? Because tonight was a huge forum with over 400 people attending that our Office of Arts & Culture Seattle and the Seattle Repertory Theatre plus the Seattle arts and Asian American communities all dived into. And exactly one month ago, when a particular op-ed came out, Rick was the one who said to me, Did you hear about The Mikado? Everyones asking what youre going to do about it. And to the so very many other truly wonderful beings who stepped up, have been so supportive and courageous and loving and trusting, and willing to lean in and make a difference with us - I am so, so very grateful to each and every one of you in more ways that I can every properly express. You are all my heroes!
