These photos were taken by our customer Jen 7-24-14 in Rolling Hills Estates near George F Canyon. There must have been some confrontation earlier on, as the owl landed on the slope of the hill and froze. (This was about 11.30am.) Seconds later, the Red-tailed Hawk flew into a tree nearby. For about the next 45 seconds, the owl kept still and just kept looking up at the hawk. The hawk then flew away and the owl waited for a bit before flying up into the tree. Then it too, flew away. It was a BIG bird. It was amazing to see an owl in broad daylight and so exciting to see the activity between both birds! How cool is This!
