These pictures are of my tiki hut in its current condition. Many of my friends have been encouraging, some demanding (lol), me to put in a hot tub as it is wired for electric. Before we get to luxury items, we first must get it into the right condition for the hot tub some of my friends want, the bar suggested by others, or the hammock Im leaning towards. To that end, I am seeking volunteers and donations of materials or funds to purchase the materials to make one of these scenarios a reality. As all of you know, I enjoy hosting my friends and family in my home, so, if this project comes to fruition, it will be shared by all. Most of you are aware that I left my old job in August and joined The Florida PIP Law Firm in October. In the interim, I was working independently handling insurance claims, doing some evictions, writing wills, designations of health care surrogates, and otherwise practicing what is known as door law, however, this kind of work was not as steady as I was used to, so, unlike before, all projects for luxury items must be completed on a strict budget. I attempted to begin this project in February, but was stopped dead in my tracks by my back problem. Please note that this is the scene of the crime where my back finally gave its last breath and almost sent me tumbling down almost 15 feet into the pile of marble chip underneath it. I was on the top of my ladder with a crowbar in my tool belt and a claw hammer in my hand ripping down the old roofing, some of which has remained on the ground next to the hut since then (as evidenced by the pictures below), when my back went out. My ladder, a super-heavy one that folds up to only four feet in length and folds out to twelve, remained there taunting me until my neighbor was kind enough to take it down, fold it up, and carry it to the shed for me. Accordingly, I imagine that, in addition to myself, this will take four other people with some construction background to complete. Ideally, Id like to put a sectional tin roof on this for its wind resistance. If we do get another hurricane, if the roof did fail, it would only do so in small sections and not act like a giant metal sail destroying anything in its path. The hut itself is 8 x 10, so the amount of materials require should be minimal. In addition to roofing it, I imagine that this will be most functional with a bamboo platform floor on top of pressure treated 4 x4s. So, I would need the following materials and am reaching out to my homeowner friends who may have leftovers from construction projects: OSB Board or plywood; Tar paper; Tin roof sheeting, though I doubt anyone has this laying around; 4 x 4s; Bamboo or pine planking, whether any of the wood is sealed does not matter because I can seal it myself like I did with the fence last year. I already have the nails, screws, and galvanized brackets that will be needed as I was going to put all the brackets in ahead of time before my back wet out. We will also likely need at least two more ladders to get the job done and a friend with a circular saw and a power miter saw, mine is manual and, trust me, it takes some time to saw through a 4 x 4 by hand. I imagine we can get this all done in one day, or a weekend at the most. Austin Estridge, Whitney J. Dutton, Kevin Klein, I know I can count on you guys, we just need a couple more with construction know how or general handiness, so know that whoever volunteers to help with this project will have my gratitude. Monetary donations are also appreciated and these funds will not be appropriated to beer and smokes. If anyone has electrical know how, perhaps we can run a couple of 2 x 4s across the top and install an outdoor fan. All volunteers, donations, and suggestions are appreciated. Ideally, I would like to have this completed within the next couple of months before it gets too hot and starts to rain ever day. Once materials are secured, the project date will be set along with the celebratory bar-b-q to follow immediately thereafter. Thank you all for your help. To
