These politicians should get it. The national conference,in respect of which the town hall meeting that was held at Akure was convened, is meant for the people and not for governors and public officials that are rabidly given to petty politics. It makes no sense that the same politicians,whose failure to prevent our system from becoming a contraption while holding sway as the custodians of our sovereignty had justified the vehement call for people to retrieve back their inhered power of sovereignty in holding a SNC,will be the ones the people will be waiting upon to give direction. In their acrimony,and obsession to be perpetually relevant,their latest plot is to condemn the choice of Akure as the second location, apart from Lagos, for the Town Hall meeting,ostensibly latching onto the petty logic that Akure is not the traditional political capital of the southwest. They are certainly oblivious of the fact that several important meetings held by the AG of old were held at Owo,at a time Ibadan traditionally held sway as the capital of the south-west. Did the people of Akure complain that they are perpetually in a pensive state,and will not be in the the right mood to host a regional town hall meeting? Unless they are saying Ondo state has been excised from the geography of the Yoruba race, Akure is qualified to be the second host of the advisory committee in the region. The bad news for the traducers of the broaching National Conference is that though the town hall was not attended by the conventional politicians,Nigerians from all walks of life,different peoples oriented groups,and elderstatemen that are qualified to be deemed leaders by any Omoluabi were in attendance,and effectively passed our messages across..
