These scarves are handmade by Karma from Bhutan. Her words I grew up in, a small village in the East. I worked in this fields and looked after cattle. Other times, I collected firewood and fetched water. Sometimes I go deep into the jungle to look after cattle. In spare time, I would help my mother weave cloth, a skill I learnt at 12. My 5 brothers went to school but I stayed home so I can help my parents, so I cannot read or write. My father promised to set up a shop for me but sadly, Apa passed away in his 40s and cannot fulfil his promise. Apa would be very happy for me if he can see what special things is happening in my life in the past few weeks. So many people helping me. And so many things I cannot always understand. My husband tell me the names of places I not know or heard but my scarf is going there. He show me the photos in the internet and all the sisters and brothers wearing scarf I make. I cannot say in words my happiness. Thank you my Ana-s to help fulfil my Apa dream to give me a shop. Thank you la.
