These things are becoming far too common. If the goal of no knock warrants is to take suspects by surprise and make things safer for the officers... in many states where guns in the home is very likely... you are not making things safer for the officers. People have a right to defend themselves, and so putting people in situations that mimic home invasions, is a really dumb idea. I have seen dozens of stories this year alone, of the cops getting bad tips, going to the wrong address, etc... where they just bust in during the dead of night, and the homeowner has no idea what is going on so he sees guys smashing and climbing through his window and defends his family and shoots them, and he is suddenly on trial... And oftentimes, the poor guy is innocent because the cops went to the wrong house! Yet now his life is on the line for attempted murder of a cop... Or other stories where they got the wrong house, and the flash-bang grenade got tossed into the childs bedroom and blew half the toddlers face off, requiring extensive reconstructive surgery and scarring him mentally and physically, for life, and then the city refused to pay the hospital bill, even though they got the WRONG HOUSE? This is insane. If you intentionally put someone in a situation, waking them up in a life and death panic situation, you cant pretend to be the victim if they defend themselves. I keep a loaded 12ga and .45 handgun within arms reach when I sleep. If someones smashes into my house in the middle of the night, chances are they are getting shot. I dont want to be in that situation because the cop used AppleMaps instead of Google Maps and went to the wrong friggan house... I am normally totally pro-cop, but on this one, I gotta take issue with it. Enough is enough...
