These two go together like Sugar and Spice...so thats what Ive decided to call them. I have never met a cuter pair! When I saw the video of them inside the City Shelter in Bakersfield the other day, it looked to me like they were pretty quiet, somewhat sullen. So when I went to photograph them yesterday, I prepared myself for a sad scene. I imagined the two of them being afraid, especially the little one -- whose spinal issue (or whatever it is that causes her back legs to be immobile) -- I was sure would make her emotionally fragile as well as physically. BOY WAS I WRONG! Shelter staff member Angie and I coaxed the two out of their crate and walked with them into the fresh air. As soon as we set them down on the grass, they CAME TO LIFE like the two happiest, silliest little girls youve ever seen! The bigger sis, (our Spice girl) was loving and playful with little Sugar Baby, but not overly protective. Spice ran and hopped, while Sugar rolled on her back and solicited belly runs in the sunshine. I could go on forever about these two. But instead, Ill stop now andet you watch the video.
