They are coming for you too! #fb I just walked in the door from attending small group. It was pretty off-the-hook! Were doing a series authored by Francis Chan called Basic. In it Francis gets right down to business: Episode One, The Fear Of God. Francis acutely opens the discussion with an analogy of a surfer trapped below waves and with every pass the surfer feels he is closer to death. The fear of that forces the swimmer to swim until he pops through the top of those waves and inhales so deeply it is heard all the way to shore. That fear--Chan argues--is similar to the fear that scripture is meaning when we are told that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom! Something I believe to be in short supply! Proof? The fear of God is something our society stopped having use for pretty much the minute they could drown themselves in external stimuli...
