They called my Daddy Poss. Many people never knew his legal name until he passed away. He could be stern, but he loved us. He had a wicked sense of humor, and a big old soft heart. We lived near enough to his parents from 1958 until they, then he , passed away that he could see them every day. He would go to give my grandmother an insulin shot before he came home from work and had supper in the evenings. He was an intelligent man, and sarcasm was his weapon of choice most times. He laughed often, and read books at a rate that astounded many people. He could add a column of numbers with never touching a pencil to paper, and had an innate understanding of human nature. He encouraged us to stand up for ourselves. He loved my mother, the last time I saw him before he passed he spoke of his concern for her and not his own failing health. I loved him, and sure could use his wisdom these days.
