They can help us to get rid of things that should not be in our lives. They can cause our lives to become more productive and fruitful. They can bring about change that can have a positive influence on the world around us. We must always remember that God Himself is in the process and in the process He is doing something great within us. He wants us to be mature and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:2-4 ‘Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work (pass the test) so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.’ It is through tests that we can begin to understand things we have no knowledge about. It is through these tests that we can begin to see things we thought we understood from God’s perspective. It is through the tests that we can learn to apply the principles of God to our hearts and lives. It is through the tests that we are refined as by fire to rid our lives of those things that do not please God.
