They didnt have my DNA, i didnt give birth to them ( no really) we didnt look related and personalities were different. I adopted them young, (una was 2 weeks when she left her birth mother) and i may have been the only mother they knew. After all giving life does not make you a parent. I wiped their bums when they couldnt, picked up their puke, saw 2 through surgery and radiation treatment, stayed up all night at the ER with one, fed them, gave them meds when they needed it, got their teeth seen too, kept them warm when it was cold, rubbed their tummies and tickled their ears. Talked to them when no one else would and kept them safe from harm. Dont forget Santa Paws ( yes that was me too) By the time I met Tom Guernsey and then had my own human, they were the only family i had in the US and we got through many rough times by hunkering down, purrs, head butts and cuddling. When Tom came on the scene he and his dog were basically coming into a ready made paw family, like many of those abandoned, they all had issues, quirks and were in the senior age.. Tom is a brave man for a dog person. So even though you cant equate an animal to a human child,( i know cos i have one remember) loosing one/two/three after 13/14 yrs of being a tight little group is very tough So yes i know I am in rescue, i know many cats need a home but NO... Im not going to actively replace. You see these were more than pets to me.. They were my kids (with fur) I understood them.. And they me... Not to mention, they picked me.. I didnt pick them. I just dont have it in me.. Its just too weird.. Maybe someday, another one will pick me but for now, ill help with fostering, rescue instead..while my furry feline family dwindles... Thanks for understanding.. RIP. Cleo, Una, Cliona, Lance.
