They do hurt everyone, the economy is in recovery but the distribution of wealth between workers and company upper crust has only gotten bigger. People need to become aware and realize that if Wall Street is allowed to continue down its path of avarice then there will be another collapse, and the quality of life will fall lower for people in America than it has comporably in recent history. The only way we can assure the security and welfare of this country is by putting in place regulations that prevent the new age Wall Street mindset from putting their financial interests ahead of appreciation for their labor force. The people sitting in offices running the numbers arent idiots, they know that long term this isnt sustainable. They just dont care, they make so much in salary and bonuses that nothing will really hurt them in the long run. They feel bulletproof with their aqusition of wealth and so their only concern is to further that one goal. As long as profit reports are to shareholder liking, as long as the overhead is low and the profit is high, they wouldnt care if you worked with a gun at your back for a bowl of rice a day. Im not a conspiracy theorist, but with the heavy militarization of police around the country that scenario actually seems a pluasible reality for the future unless something is done to reign in corporate greed. I intended that statement to be figurative, but look around, how far away do you think we are from that being literal? There really is very little to give indication that the big suits care about what happens to the people at the bottom. Im generalizing, but the fact of the matter is that with the current state of things its very safe to assume most of them are out of touch.
