They pillage our resources while passing the bill to our children - TopicsExpress

They pillage our resources while passing the bill to our children unborn. Was it not this Lady who said we are not broke, who rebased our economy to be the largest in Africa? When that same economy that should have saved when oil prices were the highest begins to go cap in hand begging at the slightest of shocks one needs to ask questions. Oil prices would continue to drop, so what happens when it hits $30/barrel or even less? Saudi Arabia is not reneging on its decision not to cut supply, America has completely shut its doors to our black Gold and shale oil and alternative energy sources are getting more popular by the day. Last time I checked the NSE had also taken a hit from the devaluation of the naira and the scramble by foreign investors out beyond our shores. This talk of non-oil revenue means nothing to me. UAE, Saidi Arabia and other prudent oil producing countries can tell me about that, not Nigeria! Our manufacturing sector has largely been ceded to our neighbors on whom just a few years ago we looked upon with disdain, power is comatose, same goes for our refineries. Forget tourism, health care and education that has been outsourced long ago to countries like the UAE, UK, USA, Germany, Malaysia, India and even South Africa. Pray, what non-oil revenues is she pontificating about? Is this Minister of Finance cum coordinating minister for the economy not orchestrating our slavery to her former bosses(World bank)? Really, because given her profile its quite hard to believe that she couldnt have seen this coming and put things in place to ease the shock. Now that the initial wave of the Tsunami has hit, rather than cut government spending which would most likely take us to higher ground she is choosing the option of putting a noose round our necks and throwing us further into the higher and more ominous waves. Its in the middle of this that the light bulb goes of in the head of our CinC whose brightest idea is to add another to his fleet of private jets. Anyways when power is so epileptic its not too hard to deduce why this light bulb rarely comes on. Ask those who survived in Phuket, Banda Aceh e.t.c higher ground is the best place to be. Sadly the epicenter is closer to the masses and they would bear the brunt of it all, forget the glib promises of this people, history tells us its nothing but words.
