They rejoiced with her Luke 1:58 “And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.” John was born just as prophesied. God’s plan is always perfect and right. John the Baptist was brought forth to prepare the way of the Lord. Soon He would emerge and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. What a tremendous blessing God was to Zacharias and Elizabeth as they were consecrated to be used this way. The Bible says that God showed great mercy to them. It also states that their neighbors and cousins rejoiced with them. They were not jealous it was not them that God blessed; they showed joy for Zacharias and Elizabeth. Jealousy is a green eyed monster. If you are not careful you could find yourself jealous of others for several reasons. Maybe someone’s marriage is going better than yours; or perhaps one makes more money than you do. It could be that one of your friends got an inheritance you did not get; or possibly another’s health is better than yours is. There are many things that could promote envy all of which are potential dangers for you to make your situation worse. Jealousy and complaining never fix anything. Keep your eyes on God and realize He loves you like He cares for anyone else. You should rejoice in the blessings of other so God can bring the same blessings your way. Pastor Wilson 4-27-2014
