Johnson – $550 million Robert L. Johnson is the founder, former Chairman and ex-Chief Executive Officer of Black Entertainment Television, or BET. He is considered as the first African American to become a millionaire after becoming the first black person from anywhere in the world to become part of Forbes Magazine’s list of the richest people on earth. He also used to be the majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, a franchise of the National Basketball Association. The team is now controlled by Michael Jordan. Johnson is also the founder and Chairman of RLJ Development. 9. Sean Combs – $550 million He has also been known by other stage names, like Puff Daddy or Diddy or P. Diddy. Sean Combs started out in the recording industry when he established Bad Boy Records in 1993. The label was able to sign lucrative deals with several hip- hop musicians, like The Notorious B.I.G. Patrice Motsepe – $ 2.9 billion Patrice Motsepe is a mining magnate from South Africa. He is the founder and Chairman of African Rainbow Minerals, a company that has interests in gold, platinum, base and ferrous metals. He is also the Chairman of Harmony Gold, the 12th biggest gold mining company in the world. He is considered as the richest man in his country. He also owns the Mamelodi Sundowns, a football club that plays in the South African Premier Soccer League. Motsepe is part of The Giving Pledge and has promised to give up half his money to charitable causes and institutions. 3. Mike Adenuga – $ 4.7 billion Mike Adenuga is a Nigerian businessman who made his money in oil and telecommunications. He started out by handling construction projects back in the 80′s. Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Ali Al Amoudi – $13.5 billion Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Ali Al Amoudi is a businessman from Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia. He is considered to be the richest man in Ethiopia and the second richest Saudi Arabian national. He is the largest foreign investor in Ethiopia and Sweden. He has interests in oil, mining, agriculture, hotels, hospitals, finance, operations and maintenance. His construction company, the Mohammed International Development Research and Organization Companies, or MIDROC, is the firm behind Saudi Arabia’s nationwide underground oil storage complex worth $30 billion. He also has oil refineries in Sweden and Ethiopia and a hotel in Addis Ababa. 1. Alhaji Aliko Dangote – $16.1 billion Alhaji Aliko Dangote is a Nigerian investor and businessman.
