They say things happen for a reason . I am passionate about learning to ride classically and they say if you want something bad enough you never give up trying. I have ridden a long time , I knew of Sylvia back in the late 80s and have always admired her work as she is so clear in her instruction. I know I had many correct feelings , many times when things just came together and made me hungry for more. This year has been an amazing year so far ,opened many opportunities but it has not been without its set backs. We ( I say we, me and Claire Whitfield) made our first trip to Sylvias in June . We rode the beautiful Prazer . My first experience was good . He did what I asked . Basics walk halt, rein back shoulder in , as the lesson progressed I grew in confidence. The following day we got to ride Amigo a Spanish 6 but old , sensitive and not as well schooled. Well for some reason I could hardly get this horse to go forward. Claire however did a super job and now is the proud owner of Amigo. Claire buying Amigo opened up further opportunities for us to visit Sylvia. We had further lessons on Prazer . Again for me this further questioned me whether I could ride at all.! I completely understand the theory , have had many good experiences so what on earth was happening. These set backs i believe were for a reason , to take me back to basics to REALLY develop feel and not leave it to chance. This coincides with another opportunity to learn and pass on what I learn from the balance and bodywork training scheme that we are the first to try. I think Im right at the beginning of my classical journey . Claire is much further on but as my trainer , thats not a bad thing . We both share the same passion and like our horses have come to us , we have been brought together to help each other on a very exciting journey. We cant thank you enough Sylvia for believing in us and opening all the doors.x
