They stifled all dissent, devised ways to divide us and choke us but then nature in a mystical ,unexpected way breathed a new life into us.....this devastating flood has united us like never before and drawn a very sharp line between every structure and manifestation of oppression and the oppressed, it has been more powerful than all our previous uprisings put together. It has brought our dignity and courage in sharp contrast to ugliness and depravity of the state. We have realized in a very profound sense the feebleness of the structures of occupation and our own untapped inner strengths. Despite all attempts to whitewash their crimes the truth is clearly manifest, only those suffering with incorrigible sickness of heart will deny it. The dignity and humanity with which we saved even our oppressors is a testimony to the spiritual health of our society and its moral victory over our enemies. Yes we have paid a huge price and our hearts are broken, but we have to continue to work in unison to rebuild Kashmir. We don’t have to be complacent; the more difficult task of rehabilitation and rebuilding is ahead of us. The spirit of unity, self-sacrifice and creativity evident spontaneously during this acute stage of crisis has to be nurtured and multiplied manifold, in the long term, so that the edifice of oppression crumbles and is razed to ground. From these troubled waters a new Kashmir will arise. InshaAllah. Azaadi.
