They think its all over....... After four days with no sightings in the Glaslyn Valley area we thought wed seen our last Osprey of the 2014 season. Yesterday afternoon though, an Osprey was prospecting in the Glaslyn/Dwyryd Estuary off Borth-y-gest. For over an hour, it flew up and down the river channel and dived unsuccessfully a few times. So who was it? It would be good to think it was one of the Glaslyn Ospreys still in the area, possibly the male lingering. Unfortunately, the distance involved and a persistent haze prevented a positive identification. The Osprey rested a couple of times on the sandbank rather than on the fence posts which the Glaslyn Ospreys tend to use. With no sightings from the nest site for several days now, we think its safe to assume that all of the Glaslyn Ospreys have gone. This Osprey seen yesterday is likely to have been another Osprey stopping over and feeding up on its migration. Whoever it was, it gave a great show as it prospected for fish on another glorious September day.
