They were discussing the incident at Fort Hood and what we need to - TopicsExpress

They were discussing the incident at Fort Hood and what we need to do to fix it...so, I posted: The problem is too big. They need to start with the beginning. They start playing mind games with soldiers when they first recruit them. They tell them how their families dont want them and how they are their momma now. Then they send them to war, they see horrific things everyday; for some, their spouse/partner cannot deal with the length of deployment time and they get out of the marriage; or they spend all the money and the soldier comes home in thousands of dollars in debt. They have no one to talk to because theyve been trained that their families dont care about them and to suck it up and be a man. So they hold all of this in. Then they have the whole mess of trying to deal with VA; they are REFUSED at the door, or in my sons case, there are NO documents to support what he went through. My son was turned away from VA 4 times!! He ended up going to a nurse practitioner who prescribed the drug of choice (as she had stated) which was Paxil. Paxil can cause suicidal thoughts. He worked out of town for weeks at time, she knew he self medicated with beer. Paxil is a very powerful drug and requires CLOSE supervision under these circumstances. I was never informed he was on any medication. Cody was happy. The life of the party kind of guy. And out of the blue, he hanged himself in a motel while working out of town. I could go on and on, but they arent going to fix this trying to patch the loose ends...its the process from start to finish, its the care they dont receive, its the length of deployment, its lack of knowledge for families, its the brick wall that they hit everywhere they go. Another issue, is while they are deployed, prior to coming home, they are interviewed, do you have issues do you think of harming yourself etc etc...if they say yes to any of these, they are held back (for treatment) and are not allowed to go home...SO, who is going to say yes, Im having issues???? Visit the Cody Baker Memorial Page for more information. I have written law makers but they arent interested.
