Thieves steal $100,000 in computer chips On Feb. 16 at 8:33 a.m., police responded to an alarm call at two companies on Fairview Way, south of California Circle. Sometime between Feb. 14 and the time of call, someone broke into Apacer Memory America Inc. at 386 Fairview Way. The burglars then knocked a hole through an adjoining wall to the adjacent business, Advantech Corp. at 380 Fairview Way. Inside that business, the thieves stole more than $100,000 in computer chips. The total loss to the company is still being estimated, police said. No suspects are known. There have been two other large-scale high-tech heists in Milpitas this month. N On Feb. 6 at 2:45 a.m., police responded to a large commercial burglary at Ram Exchange Inc. at 1638 Centre Pointe Drive. That morning, someone gained entry to the business through a rear door and stole $32,000 in computer chips. Officers arrived on scene after an audible alarm in the business was tripped, police said. No suspects are known. The case remains under investigation, police said. N On Feb. 1 at 6:27 a.m., police responded to a burglary at Proxim Wireless at 1561 Buckeye Court. That morning, police said two men allegedly broke a lock on a roll-up door to a warehouse at the rear of the business. The suspects stole $25,000 worth of commercial-grade radio equipment and then fled the business in a white van, police said. Milpitas police have not yet commented on whether the crimes are suspected of being committed by the same perpetrators.
