Things I am Thankful for: 1) These turkeys! They fill every moment to the fullest. They are crazy and sassy; sweet and compassionate. Their innocence is refreshing and their naiveté is wholesome. I’m a better person by just keeping in tune with what I think they deserve. They keep us on our toes and life would be completely boring without them! 2) Getting to raise said turkeys with my best friend. He is my center; the one who was made for me. With him I feel safe, loved, important, and unbreakable. He leads our family in faith and by example. His strength and adoration keep me grounded. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be. 3) My mom. I wasn’t born to her, but rather God gave me to her as a young lady when I would need and appreciate her most. She loves me unconditionally out of desire rather than obligation. Over the years she has taught me to love to the fullest, to honor my husband, to prioritize my children, to be kind even when its not deserved, to be hospitable and charitable, and to love God above all others. I am the woman that I am today because of her loving influence and guidance. I love you Rita Florian! 4) Old friends. Those tried and true friends that are there even when you don’t take notice. They know what you need before you know you’re even in need. There’s no need to ask, no need to explain. They make life easy. 5) New friends. Our newest friends are families in the brain tumor and pediatric cancer community. Some of them break my heart, but all of them lift me up. Our stories are the same, and yet so different. They keep me moving forward, with positivity and strength. Tomorrow is never for certain and no one appreciates that more than the parent of child with cancer. But uncertainty gives way to hope. Our new friends have offered us boundless hope, even amidst their despair. That heartfelt encouragement is empowering and necessary for us right now. Cooper had a busy day at the homestead. He played outside the entire day. He opted against the turkey, or any of the other fixings for that matter, but he did like sampling and snacking his way through the preparation. His energy has been down but that hasn’t stopped him from any of the action (just slowed him). He missed counts this past week so his cycle was postponed. We expected as much. Hopefully the extra week off will reflect at his next appointment, and we’ll be back on track. His platelets have been pretty low, and combined with his dopey low energy stagger, he’s a colorful little fella. He took a spill today and added a what-not to his forehead, but he’s a tough bird and bounced back. Made a couple bon fires (he loves collecting from the woodshed), rode every outdoor ride-on, had his fill of whipped cream, and settled in right on time. Happy Thanksgiving to all of Team Coop…xxo
