Things I have learned since living in Austin. Remember I have been here 5 months: 1- If there is an office building there is a good chance there is a food truck around. 2- People are nice until they get behind the wheel of their car, then they become douche bags. 3- Traffic sucks 24/7 on all roads all the time. It is like living in Chicago or Atlanta. 4- Mexican people work in Chinese restaurants, white people in taco restaurants. Not sure where the Chinese people work… 5- There are people on every corner asking for money. There are a lot of homeless people and many have dogs. There is also a homeless theater group here. (pretty cool) 6- Food truck trailer parks rock! 7- I have seen more hipsters than cowboys. 8- I have learned that tacos make up a whole new food group. Tacos are served at all hours of the day and contain all ingredients. 9- There are more bars and drinking places here than in New Orleans I think. I honestly believe they make more arrests too. 10- The city is not designed well. It is super easy to get lost. They have ½ streets. They also have service roads beside the freeways where many businesses are located. It is crazy. And way too many one way streets that dead end.
