Things I learned at CAGED 2: UNCAGED, the Alamo Drafthouse Austins Nic Cage Marathon: 1.) Judy Greer is adorable and its criminal that Ive only noticed recently. 2.) VALLEY GIRL has an excellent soundtrack that reminds me of my childhood. 3.) BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANS maybe the greatest, most stereotypical Nic Cage performance to currently be had. 4.) I never did see DRIVE ANGRY. I should. 5.) FACE/OFF is 90s action movies reduced down to their essence and manifested on screen. Perhaps the most pure mainstream example of the genre. 6.) I saw RUMBLE FISH for the first time earlier this year, and I really need to see it again. While not heavy in the Cage department, there is Cage to be had. As well as being positive for Dennis Hopper. 7.) I was so wrong about my first assessment of ADAPTATION. I may never know what the hell was wrong with me back then. I may have to admit that I just didnt get it back then. 8.) I need more Sean Connery films in my life this year. 9.) I didnt taste the shot glass full of cool ranch crickets, as much as they were just crunchy, dry, and kind of papery.
