Things I saw on my bike ride through Piedmont Park on this beautiful Fall day: A lesbian couple holding hands, an Indian family with the matriarch being pushed in her wheelchair, big dogs, little dogs, running and resting dogs, sunshine, a grandpa teaching his granddaughter to ride a tricycle, picnics, a bi-racial family with a small child on her dads shoulders, soccer, baseball, frisbee, bbq, family reunion t-shirts, nappers, tennis, a military wedding, piñatas, falling leaves, runners, reggae, cyclists, skaters, jugglers, a jester, students on their mac books, popsicles, babies and small kids, a gay couple with their newborn twins in a double stroller...and much more. Yes, I also saw a few likely addicts, homeless people and a man peeing in the bushes...but what I mostly saw was diversity, joy, good energy and freedom of expression. Today made me happy to be alive and proud to call America (and Atlanta) my home.
