Things Ive Learned While Walking the 3Day August 4, 2011 at 8:02am Wish I could say I wrote this...... 1. Life is short. I need to tell and show those I care about how I feel because I may never have the opportunity later. I need to hug more people, more often. 2. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it lets people know that I need them and allows them to be a part of my life. 3. I am not alone in this world. There are many that feel and believe in the same things that I do and that together we can accomplish anything. 4. Being of service to someone else allows me to get out of myself, and to see that the world is truly full of wonderful people. 5. Bald really is beautiful. When you see the face of someone that has lost their hair and is fighting for their life and truly look into their eyes, you have then seen both beauty and courage. 6. Crying with or for someone allows me to feel. The longer I stay involved in this journey, the more reasons I have to shed a tear, not only in pain but also in joy. 7. What I do is not nearly as important as what we do. One person may be able to change the world, but it will happen a whole lot faster when we all work towards the same goal. 8. Fundraising is tough, but when you give people the chance to help someone else and show them that you believe in the cause, they will always come through. 9. Walking 60 miles in 3 days is not for everyone, it is challenging and can, at times, be painful. Many people feel that what we do is crazy, but we would walk the world if it would bring a loved one back . 10. 3Day walkers are amazing people, over the years I have seen people with their shoes cut out to relieve the pressure of their blisters, their legs wrapped to help ease the pain in their legs, limping to cross that finish line, knowing that for that day they have completed their task. That they have made a difference in the fight against breast cancer. They will walk through rain, snow and extreme heat because quitting is not an option for them. 11. Principles before personalities, we cannot go through this life trying to like, or be liked by everyone, but our cause must always come first. Finding a cure must be our first and only reason for being here. 12. A cure is out there and one day we will all know that what we did during this journey was worth every step.
