Things are beginning to dry out once again in the Helena Valley. From April 27th thru August 8th, only 2.58 inches of precipitation has fallen at the Helena Airport. This is the 11th driest amount of precipitation for this time period on record. In the past 41 years, only 1985 and 1973 had lesser amounts of precipitation. with 1.31 inches fallen in 1985 and 2.09 inches fallen in 1973. In 2012, only slightly more precipitation feel during this period than this year, with 2.68 inches fallen. Looking ahead a bit to when it might rain next in the Helena area, little to no precipitation is expected for Sunday and Monday, but the chance for showers and thunderstorms will start to increase a bit towards the middle to later portions of next week.
