Things that make you go hmmmm. Just now I found this speech from Scott, actually made before his first speech so he had to flag clearly that "this is not my first speech." He had also partially lost his voice. Since then we have pretty much wholly lost our privacy, the subject of this speech, but not our voices - on the TIA, on privacy and on surveillance. "Australians should be able to communicate with their friends and colleagues without a range of organisations listening in. It must only be in extraordinary circumstances when that right to privacy is denied. And who exactly is being spied upon? Too often it has been people who are working for peace and human rights or organising using their democratic right to free expression that we hold dear in this country.
