Things that piss me off (a little): Soooo....Im thinking about buying this BMW M3, at an auction today, and the report looks good. WAIT...HOLD ON... Before I go any further, let me explain, in short detail, how these cars are graded, by these auctions. They are on a scale from 0-5. 0 - sucks, its garbage. Its good for parts, if youre lucky. Its just above scrap metal. 5 - Its basically a new car or has been maintained to the level of looking new. And the degrees of condition can vary greatly from there. So, back to this M3....They say its a 4. A 4 is good....heres their definition of a 4: The vehicle is better than average with only minor chips or scratches in panel surfaces which may require minor conventional body and paint work or paintless dent repair. The vehicle may have sustained cosmetic or light collision damage and received high quality repairs. The vehicle’s frame/structure has not been repaired or altered, and is expected to measure to published specifications. A minor missing or broken part may require replacement. The interior is clean, shows minimal wear and has no noticeable offensive odors. There is no visible glass damage beyond minor pitting of the windshield. The vehicle is mechanically sound and all accessories are operable. Fluids may require service. Tires match by brand, size and style and are in good condition. So one of the BIG premises to be a 4 is: THIS CAR WORKS. So, Im reading through this report and does this M3 work? NO, IT DOES NOT RUN!!! IT WILL NOT START!!! AND, OH LOOK!!! THE WINDOWS ARE BROKEN!! So, how on this good Earth, did this car get a 4 rating? Easy, the inspector is a moron. This car should be a 2...and, sadly, some dealer will get stuck with this car, paying top dollar, because this report says its a 4.
